King Mangrai Monument

Phaya Mengrai was the 25th king of the Lua Changkharat Dynasty, the son of Phaya Lao Meng and Phra Nang Thep Kham Khaeng, or Phra Nang Uaming Chom Mueang, who was born in 1239 and died in Chiang Mai in 1311. He built the city of Chiang Rai on Doi Thong from the original foundation that used to be a city in 1262, and ruled the country as a prosperous Lanna Thai kingdom.
Wat Rong Khun

The white color signifies the purity of the Buddha, while the glass symbolizes the Buddha’s wisdom and the Dhamma, the Buddhist teachings. The Wat Rong Khun was designed by Chalermchai Kositpipat, a famous Thai visual artist. To date the temple is not finished. Eventually there will be nine buildings including an ubosot, a hall to enshrine Buddhist relics, a meditation hall, the monks living quarters and an art gallery.
Wat Rong Suea Ten

The temple walls, roof, and surrounding statues are all covered in this gorgeous hue, an unusual decorative choice in a country where most temples are made of gold. This color is symbolically associated with purity, wisdom, and the lack of materialism that Buddhists aspire to. The temple is a fascinating fusion of traditional Buddhist values and classic Thai architecture with extremely contemporary design choices. This modernism makes sense — the Blue Temple was designed by Putha Kabkaew, a student of the artist who built the eccentric White Temple.
Wat Huay Pla Kang

It is easy to find as the immense statue of Kuan Im, the Goddess of Mercy, dominates the landscape. It is one of my favorite temples in Chiang Rai because it is a center of social welfare for the disadvantaged, such as orphans and elderly people. The story goes that there was an old temple at this location. A monk, called Phop Chok Tissuwaso, founded a new temple here, dedicated to Kuan, the Goddess of Mercy. He constructed the first building in 2007. This is the 49-meter high Phop Chok Dhamma Chedi, pagoda that shows influences from Thailand, China, and Europe. It’s a building unlike any other in Chiang Rai.
The Black House Chiang Rai

There’s nothing else like it, making it a true must-see for anyone on a tour of Chiang Rai. Often referred to as the “Black Temple”, this building is not really a temple at all. It’s actually more like an art museum and studio. Its construction is a blend of traditional Thai architecture with a contemporary and unorthodox flair. It does look much like an ordinary temple on the outside, but with a dark and unplaceable air of mystery that expands the minute, you walk inside. Covered in art and installations made of taxidermied animals, the Black House is the world’s largest collection of animal remains made into furniture and art installations.
Chiang Rai Saturday Night Market

Folk music performances are also popular with the audience.

In the past, Golden Triangle was the world's large source of drug trafficking owing to its privileged location attached to many countries.

It has an atmosphere of tea plantations that are planted around the hillside where tourists can stop to take photos and see the beauty in many places. There are also food and beverage outlets plus bakery with popular menus.
Khun Korn Forest Park Waterfall

When stepping out of the car, you will experience the coolness of nature that always welcomes visitors. Here, everyone will find Khun Korn Waterfall, which is known as the tallest waterfall in Chiang Rai, with a height of 70 meters where the water falls below. There is also a Butterfly Waterfall where many different types of butterflies can be observed and Huai Lao Ai Waterfall, which still maintains its natural integrity. Along the path to visit the waterfall, you will find various plants.
Ban Pha Hi

It is located approximately 13 kilometres away from Ban Pha Mi, which lies lower on the plains. Originally inhabited by the Akha hill tribe who traditionally grew opium, the landscape of Ban Pha Hi changed around 1981 when the government encouraged coffee cultivation. With the initiation of the Doi Tung development project and coffee research plots in 1988, the residents transitioned to coffee farming as their main livelihood, a practice that persists today.
Doi Tung

While not the highest elevation of the province, the 1,389 m high Doi Tung rises steeply close to the Thailand-Myanmar border. Doi Tung Royal Villa, former residence of Princess Mother Srinagarindra, is high up on the hill. The villa was originally built as a summer residence for the princess mother and now houses a museum displaying her work to improve the life quality of local tribes people. The Mae Fah Luang Gardens are a botanical park on the slopes below the royal villa. Flowers and plants grow among rock formations.

Thamluang Khunnam Nangnon National Park

It is open to guided tours from November to April, though many parts remain inaccessible. Previously known only to locals, Tham Luang Cave came to global attention when twelve members of a junior association football team and their assistant coach were found alive deep inside the cave on 2 July 2018 after they were trapped by monsoonal flooding on 23 June. A rescue mission brought everyone out safely by 10 July. Two Thai rescue divers died during the mission.
